Sometimes it takes a stroke of serendipity to discover the places on Earth that captivate every nature lover with their magic. Tjong Fjord in Nordland, Norway, is one such place. Located about 25 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, it sits on a peninsula shielded by the colossal Svartisen glacier and the equally majestic coastal mountain range. This secluded spot is only accessible by ferry, ensuring its extraordinary landscapes remain untouched by the crowds that frequent Norway’s popular coastal regions.

Here you can find breathtaking fjord vistas, cascading streams, and white sandy beaches far from the beaten path. Nestled right at a branch of the fjord lies our Helgeland coast Lodge.

Klaus Stange from the AVVTENTION has spent months producing photo and video material for our lodge. In winter, when fishing in the fjord becomes a chilly endeavor, the lodge is quiet — perfect for a group of photographers. Situated at the end of a no-through road and far from any artificial light sources, the night sky here is clear and breathtakingly beautiful. The Northern Lights are a frequent spectacle, appearing in a kaleidoscope of colors.

For photographers, the convenience is unparalleled — just simply step outside the front door to capture these celestial wonders. We believe these are the ideal conditions for capturing the beauty of the aurora borealis.
